Bellerive Yacht Club
STRATEGIC STATEMENT
VISION
Bellerive Yacht Club is to be the pre-eminent yacht club on The Derwent by providing vibrant sailing, training and social environment for our members and the community.
MISSION
Our Vision will be achieved by:
i Our strong sailing membership.
ii Our culture of participation and involvement in club activities.
iii Our excellence in racing and sailing programs and facilities.
iv Our professional management and financial security.
v Our community involvement and management of our locality and environment.
vi Our modern and accessible facilities.
vii Our enjoyable and involving social atmosphere.
HIGH LEVEL OBJECTIVES
1. Membership
Increase membership by 10% per annum by attracting and retaining junior, youth and adult participants from the local community through;
i training,
ii coaching
iii social activities and
iv by retaining an increasing proportion as active sailing and social members.
2. Sailing & Racing
Continue to provide first class sailing and racing opportunities by;
i Striving for increased fleet sizes.
ii Being the preferred venue for keel boat classes.
iii Provide excellence in race management and involvement of members.
iv Have an active involvement in major events.
v Support racing in the locality by assisting dinghy clubs.
vi Provide active training and support for race management, rescue boat operation and event management
vii Provide active encouragement of junior and youth racing and sailing.
3. Education and Training
i Be the centre for the community in support of programs for on water safety and allied training programs.
4. Infrastructure and Facilities
i Have a Master Plan for the Club precinct.
ii Continue to consider ways to improve the Clubhouse and its facilities
iii Look to the future expansion of the Marina to provide quality berthing for members
iv Create a hardstand and lift out crane facility to replace the existing slipway.
v Improve traffic management to improve access and the utility of the site and the precinct and to reduce risk to members and other users.
5. Social
i Develop a welcoming family environment.
ii Welcome the local community to see the Club as a local asset.
iii Provide a highlight social calendar of activities.
iv Provide high quality catering, bar facilities and allied services.
6. Club Administration and Finance
i Build on the existing sustainable financial position through the prudent and strategic application of investments, revenue, borrowed funds and increased income through sponsorships and donations.
ii Strong planning capability supported by strategic stakeholders.
iii An effective Committee comprising of complimentary skills and offering strong leadership supported by effective governance practices.
7. Community, Environment i Build i Build relationships with local government, state government, other organisations and other local users.
ii Be aware of our ecological footprint and always look towards lessening our impact.
